Sometimes you’ll
still see this used:
Luminosity class I-V,
based on the degree of order in the spiral pattern. Eg. Sc I galaxies have very long, organized
arms. Sc V galaxies are poorly
organized.
The classes
only correlate with luminosity, and not perfectly.
