I am a professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Wyoming situated in stunning Laramie, Wyoming. If you love the sky why wouldn't you live here?

My research focus is studying the distribution of quasars across cosmic history. My specific interests include; constraining cosmology, and models of quasar activity and galaxy formation, by analyzing clustering within large surveys of quasars and galaxies; using proximate pairs of quasars and AGN to constrain models of quasar fueling and galaxy evolution; statistical lensing (cosmic magnification) as a trace of dark matter; and the development of rigorous probabilistic techniques to classify and characterize quasars in large imaging surveys.

I am grateful to my many sponsors. My work has been funded by the National Science Foundation through the AST division using the EPSCoR and Extragalactic Astronomy and Cosmology programs, by the Department of Energy's Office of High Energy Physics via the Cosmic Frontier program and by NASA through the ADAP, AISR and EPSCoR programs. NASA has additionally funded work I have conducted using the Chandra X-Ray Observatory and the Spitzer Space Telescope. I have also been funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as a Senior Research Fellow in the ENIGMA group at the Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie in Heidelberg, Germany.

Finally, I am an avid teacher and love discussing astronomy, physics and the philosophy of science with students and the public.
